Volunteer for Conservation projects in Kakamega Forest Kenya

We offer Volunteers oppotunity in and around Kakamega forest in Conservation working with community groups for conseving the only remaining tropical rainforest in Kenya.

We have organized Community Based Organization under Muileshi Community forest association togather with Kenya Forest service carrying out conservation activities in and around Kakamega rainforest for Conserving and protecting Kakamega rainforest.

We welcome any Volunteer in conservation field, Environmental Education field, volunteers who would like to help needy children and any volunteer intrested in working with community both long term and short term projects.

Our volunteer normally stay with community in home stays that are close to the project and normally take meals togather with community home stay unless those volunteer need special accommodation.

We have long term projects which take two month to two years or more, and short term project as from 2 weeks to one month projects.

Volunteers budget is 350US$ per month, these price includs all meals and accommodation durnig volunteer stays on project.

Other volunteers who are intrested working on health project, we have community dispensary where they can to health project. Also volunteer who can perfom teaching project, we have local secondary schools that needs volunteers who can help teach forieghn languages and other subjects.

All projects; volunteers and community members normally work from monday to friday and at weekend volunteers can tour or visit some of the touristic areas within Kenya or East Africa but at there own costs.

In these regards, community will share and exchange culture interactions and socialization with volunteers also learn from each other during volunteer stay.

  • Biodiversity Monitoring.
  • Tree Nursery Projects.
  • Butterfly Farming project.
  • School outreach program on environmental education.
  • Volunteering teaching in local secondary schools project.
  • Ophanage; working with local volunteers to take care of ophans.
  • Energy saving devices project.
  • Operating Hours

    The park is open 365 days a year, even holidays, from 8am till 6pm. It is possible to arrive earlier for a sunrise walk, or to come for a night walk, but please book ahead of time.
